Who is University College Birmingham:
The Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Department at University College Birmingham has been operating over many years. As an outstanding College we want to be able to offer our learners the best qualifications available in order for them to gain employment within the industry of their choice.
ITEC qualifications focus on the learners being able to carry out treatments to a very high standard with indepth underpinning knowledge. This enables the staff within the department to deliver outstanding skills to the students and maintain our outstanding Ofsted status. Feedback from employers who take our students for Work Placement has indicated that they are very impressed not only with the learners' standards of work but also their standards of dress and conduct when out on placement.
The story so far:
We now been working with ITEC for over a year and have now moved all of our Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy qualifications over to ITEC.
Why University College Birmingham changed Awarding Organisation:
During the academic year 2011/12 the department chose to offer ITEC qualifications in NVQ Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing and also made the decision to pilot VQ qualifications in Beauty Therapy at level 2 and 3. Changing the Awarding Body and the type of qualifications we offered had its problems along the way but the team at ITEC endeavored to make our transition possible, making changes to accommodate us as well as offering support at all times.
